Alpana received her initial training in Kathak from Guru Pandita Dr. Rohini Bhate at Nrityabharati.
Since moving to the USA, she pursued her training from Smt Anuradha Nag (senior disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj) at Tarangini School of Kathak Dance.
She has attended multiple workshops with Pandit Birju Maharaj, Saswati Sen, Mamata Maharaj, Kumuduni Lakhia and Pandit Vijayshankar.

She has  performed extensively both in India and USA
